The resurgence of west El Paso hamburger joint, Charcoaler, has made a lot of burger fans very happy. They've had a busy few years. After 55 years in business on Mesa, the owner of Charcoaler announced in January of 2017 that the business would be closing down because running the iconic hamburger drive-in had become too much for him. After the announcement that Charcoaler would be closing down, there were weeks of lines that stretched onto Mesa as loyal customers lined up to get what was supposed to be their last taste of those delicious, flame-grilled burgers.

Six months later the family tried to sell the name and concept of Charcoaler but there were no buyers, Thankfully a few months later the granddaughter of the original owner decided to open the west location back up, and even opened an east side location as well. A few months later, they added a new indoor seating area and outdoor patio seating area with 100 seats.

This spring, the west side Charcoaler will be hosting movie nights on Thursday and Saturday nights beginning at sundown. The combination of the family-friendly movies and a delicious Charcoaler burger sounds like the perfect movie night for me.
