Portion of I-10 Shut Down After NM State Police Officer Killed
UPDATE: New Mexico State Police (NMSP) held a press conference Thursday night to confirm the death of NMSP Officer Darian Jarrott. A Las Cruces police officer was shot and taken to UMC Hospital. He has already been released after seeking treatment for his wounds. State police have also confirmed the suspect was killed in a shootout.
Shocking news broke on multiple El Paso and Las Cruces news outlets as reports of a shooting on I-10 ended tragically it is reported by the Las Cruces Sun News that one New Mexico State Police officer was killed and a Las Cruces police officer was injured.
Reports of heavy police presence was seen at the Motel Boulevard exit.
ROAD CLOSURE
I-10 is closed from Deming to Las Cruces in both directions due to police activity. Find alternate routes if possible. Law enforcement is on the scene. Expect delays.Posted by NMDOT on Thursday, February 4, 2021
