Last week a tractor-trailer crashed into I-10 and caused a lot of damage to the Stanton utility bridge. Traffic was snarled and the freeway was closed for over 24 hours as TxDOT worked to shore up the bridge so that traffic could once again flow on I-10.

TxDOT will return to work on that bridge and it will mean an overnight closure of I-10 West, and a weeks-long lane closure. Here's what you need to know:

Wednesday night/Thursday morning, July 25-26:
I-10 westbound will be closed at the downtown Mesa exit from 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. Traffic will exit at Mesa, and get back on I-10 at Yandell.
Once I-10 West reopens Thursday morning (July 26), the far right lane will remain closed until permanent repairs are complete in mid-August.

The permanent fix for the utility bridge is expected to begin on August 15. There will be overnight closures on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and a weekend closure to get utilities rerouted, demolish the two existing beams over the westbound roadway, put new beams in place, and reinstall the utilities. There will also be intermittent closures on Yandell and Mesa for utility work.

KISS FM will keep you up on any I-10 closures and lane closures as this fix goes forward.
