Work on the I-10 Connect project in Central El Paso around the Spaghetti Bowl area will result in the complete closure of I-10 in both directions at US-54 for 27 hours beginning at 3 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 through 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.

If you have to travel from one end of the city to the other, plan on it taking longer than usual or plan on taking a more roundabout route to your east or west side destination.

“You may want to take a scenic detour over Transmountain and bask in the beauty of our mountain,” suggests Jennifer Wright, Public Affairs Officer for TxDot. “You can also take Loop 375 Cesar Chavez and cruise along the border.”

Or if you don’t mind a slow go with lots of traffic lights, Wright suggests "taking Montana or Alameda and checking out some old neighborhood haunts." Or you could just hang at home or in your own hood and avoid the whole thing entirely.

In case you’re wondering “whyyyyyy??!!,” it's because crews will be placing concrete bridge girders over I-10 for one of four new direct connector ramps being built as part of the I-10 Connect Project.

Below is a detailed list of roadways and ramps which will be closed from 3am Sunday, August 11, through 6am Monday, August 12, and detours:
