It has been confirmed. The state Department of Hhealth confirmed it Wednesday morning -- another case of the human plague has hit northern New Mexico. This time, it is a women but her name is not being released. The only information about the woman is that she is 73 years old and is from Santa Fe County.

In fact, it is the second case in Sante Fe county this year alone. The other cases confirmed were a 65-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman, both of whom have recovered. The first involved a 52-year-old woman, who died from the illness. Most human cases of plague are acquired through the bite of infected fleas.
