In my continuing series on "How To" do stuff, here's one that could save you money... and jail time. How to talk your way out of a ticket. In a recent survey, police officers were asked what is the best way to act when you are pulled over by the cops. The number one rule was, "Be respectful". Next, put both your hands on the steering wheel when the police officer reaches your window. That gesture alone will make the officer more comfortable approaching the situation, and a comfortable cop that sees you don't intend to be confrontational may be more lenient. Finally, and "off the record", police have a very stressful career, and if you can make him laugh with a funny off the wall excuse or a silly reason for your lapse in judgement, you just may, make his day. So, "Go ahead punk, make my day !!"
