Hooters Spreading Its Wings – Location Planned in Far East El Paso
After decades with only one El Paso location, Hooters is about to spread its wings and land on the Far East.
Documents filed with both the state and the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission show it taking over the building on Joe Battle that used to be a Cattle Baron.
Hooters, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is known the world over for its female servers and their provocative uniforms, and the double meaning of the word 'hooters.' And, oh yeah, they have chicken wings, too.
The chain opened its first El Paso location by Cielo Vista Mall 25 years ago in the building once occupied by The Cadillac Bar.
While a second Hooters has not been officially confirmed, representatives for the chain filed preliminary plans with the state in November 2022 for a “Hooters El Paso – East” with the location cited as 1799 Joe Battle. The plan proposed is for a renovation/alteration of the 7,360-square-foot building with a new bar area.
Besides the location behind Walmart in the Cielo Vista Mall area, there's a Hooters in Las Cruces.
That's the one where George Lopez famously got into some sh** with a guy in 2018. Lopez was charged with assault after allegedly snatching the dude’s cell phone and grabbing the back of his neck. He told the cops the man had been baiting him all night and was lying in wait to film him.
The charges were eventually dropped when the victim didn’t show up to the court hearing, according to the Las Cruces Sun-News.
