Here's How To Help Families & Kids Of Domestic Abuse In El Paso

Now through the first week of October, El Pasoans can help families of domestic abuse by dropping off some much-needed supplies at Sunland Park Mall.

October is National Domestic Violence Month. This is the time to advocate and spread awareness and take action by helping local families and their children who are displaced because of domestic abuse.

According to Las Posada Home, one in three women and one in four men have been physically abused, and an average of 20 people are physically abused by intimate partners every minute, while and 1 in 5 women and 1 in 7 men have been severely physically abused by an intimate partner. In addition, millions of children who witness domestic violence or are victims of abuse themselves are at serious risk for long-term physical and mental health problems.

Locally, La Posada Home provides safe shelter, confidential service, and housing assistance to individuals and families in crisis due to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

To help ease the burden of their situation, Sunland Park Mall is hosting a donation drive now through October 7, benefitting La Posada Home, which provides shelter for families and their children.

The El Paso community is invited to drop off their donations anytime Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.
