Earth Day is the perfect day to help gather trash and dispose of it properly, and the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a clean-up event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 22 at the Westside Community Park at 7400 High Ridge.

The event is free, and if you are planning to help, you are encouraged to participate by volunteering to help pick up trash and litter around the trail and desert area of the park. The Trailblazers Outdoor Recreation Program of the Parks and Recreation Department will lead the clean-up. They will provide gloves, trash bags and refreshments to any volunteers. If you are going to be helping in the clean-up, you need to meet at the dog park area of the park for the clean-up.

The Trailblazers Outdoor Recreation program provides residents the opportunity to connect to nature through outdoor recreation and conservation education while enhancing health and fitness.
Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22, and it was started to promote awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment. Knowing what we know now about how bad trash is for the environment, doing a clean-up is one small thing we can all do to help out.
