Nowadays the thing that is on everyone's mind is the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all worried about washing our hands, sanitizing our spaces, and wearing a mask but you also have to take care of your general health as well. The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is going to hold a free health screening clinic this weekend that can help you get a better picture of your overall health.

Texas Tech is going to offer blood pressure, body mass index, glucose, and lipids screenings. For the glucose and lipid screenings you will need to not eat or drink anything besides water for at least eight hours before the event or else you won't be able to do those particular screenings. In addition to the health screenings Texas Tech will also be offering health education on blood pressure, body mass index, diabetes, cholesterol, COVID-19 and more health issues that you need to know about to stay healthy.

If you think that this isn't something you need to worry about, just take a look at the daily news reports about the COVID-19 pandemic. People with underlying medical conditions are very susceptible to all the of the medical problems that can be addressed at this event. High blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity are very common in Hispanics and in El Pasoans. We love to eat things that are not good for us and that makes us a target for diseases that can make us more vulnerable to COVID-19.

Get these screenings while they are free. It can help put your mind at ease or it can let you know if you need to go see a doctor.
