Foot Locker announced that it will be repurposing their approximately 2,000 stores nation-wide to also serve as temporary voter registration centers. Starting Tuesday, September 22, the El Paso store and others around the country will have kiosks installed with a link to the website listed above that will hopefully facilitate things for those that might not be as familiar with the voting process.

Cielo Vista Mall currently houses El Paso’s remaining Foot Locker store while in Las Cruces, there is a Foot Locker in Mesilla Valley Mall.

As part of their Rock the Vote initiative, they’ve launched a website that will quickly and easily allow somebody to check their voter registration status and if need be registered to vote in time for this November’s general election.  Additionally, by heading over to footlocker.com/vote.html, visitors can also sign up for election reminder from Rock the Vote to make sure they don’t miss out on any important information between now and November 3rd.

As we get older, it’s easy to forget that there are a young people who will be voting (hopefully) for the very first time this November.  They may not be aware that one needs to register first in order to be able to cast a ballot in the general election.  By making these resources available in a familiar and “fun” location, hopefully these young people and others feel empowered to take part in the democratic process and make their voices heard.
