Fishing and Camping By the Lake Just a 45 Minute Drive from El Paso
If you’re looking to get away from the daily grind, spend some time outside, and become one with nature there’s a destination I recently learned about that’s around a 45-minute drive away where you can fish, camp out, and toast marshmallows under the stars.
Full disclosure: I’m not the outdoorsy type.
When I say I like camping I mean I like drinking outside by a fire. My idea of roughing it is a Motel 6. The only fishing I do is for compliments.
But I’m writing this for you, and you like the wide-open spaces and catching and cleaning your own food.
Hideaway Lakes, Tornillo
There’s a campground/RV Park up the road in Tornillo that sounds perfect for the type of adventure/getaway you like. I’m talking “spacious waterfront sites” on not one but two lakes.
It’s called Hideaway Lakes, and the description on its social media page makes me want to head to Cabela’s for a tent, rod, and a pair of sturdy boots.
Spend the day fishing or just relaxing lakeside with family and friends. Choose from rustic tent sites, generous shaded group areas, and ample RV sites. Spend quality family time camping under the stars next to a cozy campfire and quiet moments fishing on the banks.
Oh, man, you had me at “rustic.” And just look at a few photos of this place:
They have daytime campsites and fishing, overnight campsites and fishing, and places to hook up an RV if glamping is more your style. The Hideaway Lakes website can answer any and all questions you may have.
