First Light Federal Credit Union — ‘Don’t Fall For This Hurricane Harvey Scam’
There’s nothing like a natural disaster to bring out grubby little scammers trying to make a fast and illegal buck.
First Light Federal Credit Union says they are getting reports of their customers getting texts to reactivate their First Light debit card or to increase their transaction limits. The scammers prompt you to give them your PIN, security code, and card number, and they tell you that they need that information because of, wait for it – Hurricane Harvey.
As with most scams, if it sounds fishy, it probably is, and this one is. FirstLight Federal Credit Union never contacts its members via text, and they say they would never request your personal information in order to verify an account.
If you think you might have given your information to a scammer and you’re a FirstLight Federal Credit Union member, or if you need more information, call 1-800-351-1670.
