Finally East El Paso Can Enjoy A 2nd Rubik’s Location
As a gamer, arcades are some of my favorite places to go to. Not many arcades are left but in El Paso, we do have a couple in town: Funkmeyer's Rec Room, Dave & Busters, Glitch Gaming Center, Adventure Zone, & Bob-O's come to mind. But of course I can't forget about Rubik's.
Back in July, I wrote about Rubik's opening up a new location on the east side. For a long while the only one in town was located on Mesa on the west side. After months of teasing & waiting, the wait is finally over as they opened up their 2nd location this weekend: Located at 9910 Montana.
They had a soft opening last night (Thursday) where I was invited by the two owners, Mari & Alex, so I decided to check it out.
The first thing you'll notice that's different is the space. It's WAY bigger than the west side spot. Not just on the outside, but inside too:
There's WAY more room to get a drink or sit down when you get food. Now you don't have to feel so squished when you're playing games.
But you're probably wondering, "hey it's an arcade... so where are the games?" They're still here, but now there's two separate areas for when you want to play:
There's also a giant outdoor patio.
And each table is decorated with characters on them. My personal favorites were the Nintendo one:
& the one with Chuco Yoda:
Just like at the one on Mesa, the owners did tell me that they plan on hosting the similar events they always do: trivia nights, karaoke, etc. They also said on their social media pages that kids ARE allowed to go until about 9pm.
Here's to hoping that more El Paso businesses can flourish in town & that we get more arcades back in town!
