Fun Fall Activities You Can Do With the Kids This Weekend In and Around El Paso
Fall has arrived, and you know what that means: time to start your Christmas shopping. Kidding. Kind of.
Now that autumn is officially here it's hard not to get a little giddy over hoodie and shorts weather and its related outdoor activities. Corn mazes, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and haunted houses, is what fall feels is all about, and you can do all of them this weekend.
Pumpkin Patches & Corn Mazes
For those looking to pick out the perfect pumpkin and get lost among the cornstalks your “corny” adventure awaits. La Union Maze and Mesilla Valley Maze are open for the season beginning this weekend.
For those who don’t appreciate a real-life puzzle of twists, turns, and dead ends, each also offers many other activities for the kiddos.
Follow THIS LINK to find out what’s new and what’s in store this year at all 3 El Paso-area corn mazes and pumpkin patches.
Apple Picking
Apples in the Land of Enchantment are in season, and you can be picking your own in under 2 hours.
The family-friendly activity is not only a fun excuse to get out of the city for the day, but it’s also an excellent way to eat fresh and support local area farms
There are three family-run U-Pick orchards a day trip away from El Paso that you can visit for fresh off the tree crunch: U-Pick Mesilla Valley Apples in Las Cruces, Nichols Ranch and Orchards in La Luz, and Cadwallader Mountain Farms, located between Alamogordo and Cloudcroft. More info on each can be found HERE.
Haunted House Attractions
Horror enthusiasts don’t have to wait until October to get their shriek on. A Nightmare on Socorro Road is ready with the thrills and chills starting Friday.
Located a few minutes off loop 375 at 10167 Socorro Rd near El Charlatan, A Nightmare on Socorro Rd is the newest indoor/outdoor haunt located in a historical 1800s hacienda.
Food trucks, vendor booths, and nightly classic horror movies playing on an outdoor big screen will be part of the mix. Several custom vehicles will be on display for photos and selfies, including a “Christine” look-a-like.
