EPISD Is Distributing Laptops To Students – Here Is What You Need To Know About How To Get Them

Some of the over half billion dollar bond that voters approved last year in the El Paso Independent School District will be used this week as EPISD begins distributing more than 13,000 MacBook Air laptops to middle school students and high school freshmen.

EPISD says every qualifying student in EPISD will have daily access to a laptop or other similar device. All high school freshmen and students from MacArthur, Terrace Hills, Richardson, Hornedo, Lincoln, Wiggs, Brown, Ross, Canyon Hills, and Magoffin middle schools will be getting the laptops or similar devices.

The MacBooks will be equipped with free digital textbooks, software, and cloud storage. The distribution of the digital devices will begin today, Monday, August 7 and continue through Friday, August 18.

Students have be already registered for the 2017 - 18 school year and a Responsible Use Agreement must be signed by a parent or guardian and be on file in order for the laptops to be released to them. Students will have to present their school ID, or their EPISD username and password if no school ID is issued at their campus.

New EPISD students will get their laptops on the first day of school. EPISD says high-school freshmen with last names beginning with the letters A to L will be served from 8 a.m. to noon. Those whose last name starts with the letters M to Z will be served from 1 to 5 p.m. At the middle schools, students will be served on the following schedule: sixth-grade from 8 to 11 a.m.; seventh grade from noon to 2:30 p.m.; and eighth-grade from 2:30 to 5 p.m.
