El Paso keeps attracting celebrities to the borderland as news hits that actor Gael Garcia Bernal just wrapped up filming for a new movie slated for release on Amazon.

Garcia Bernal is best known for his roles in The Motorcycle Diaries, Amores Perros, Y Tu Mamá También, and voicing the beloved character of Héctor Rivera for the English and Spanish versions of Disney's animated film Coco.

Last year El Pasoans got the news that the actor signed on to star in Cassandro about the true story of Saúl Armendáriz, a gay amateur wrestler from El Paso who rises to international stardom after he creates the character Cassandro El Exotic.

Over the weekend, local restauranteur of Don Carbon and entrepreneur Tania Peregrino shared a photo of the Golden Globe-winning actor revealing that he had been filming at her home.

By the looks of his dyed blonde hair, we can only assume that the scenes filmed in town were for the upcoming Cassandro movie in the works with Amazon Films.

The Mexican actor and producer will most recently star in M. Night Shyamalan's newest film, Old. Inspired by the Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters’ graphic novel “Sandcastle,” Old tells an existential horror story about a group of tourists who mysteriously age rapidly on a beach. Old will premiere in theatres on July 23, 2020.

It's no secret that El Paso has been the backdrop for many films - just last month, word on the street pinned Liam Neeson to the Sun City as crews filmed in the Kern Place area, and just over the weekend, actor Wilmer Valderrama was in El Paso for a meet and greet on Fort Bliss.

It's fantastic to see so many celebrities hit up our hometown, inspiring actors, musicians, and many more to discover the gem that is El Paso, TX.
