The El Paso Museum of History Presents A Special Sun Bowl Program Elvis, El Paso, and the Real Old West

Do you have friends or family in town? Are you here to enjoy the Hyundai Sun Bowl next week? Well your in for a treat with the El Paso Museum of History on Sunday, December 29th, from 1-4 p.m. where you can enjoy Elvis, El Paso and the Real Old West.

Did you know that El Paso was once known as the Gunfight Capitol of the World!? And what does Elvis have to do with it? Believe it or not, the king came to El Paso and stayed at the hotel located across Missouri street from the Museum of History.

This Sunday you can check out Six Guns and Shady Ladies, The Wild Bunch Gunfighters and Old West Thunder who will recreate old El Paso as they and other old west characters roam around the museum and tell you their tall tales.

Doug Wilson will portray the famous Elvis with scheduled performances at 2 and 3:30 p.m. Hands on activities  include trying on old west clothes, riding a saddle, branding your own piece of wood to take home, rope making, a kidney bean race, butter churning demonstrations, a display of jewelry made from real roses – a craft practiced by many 19th century ladies and much more.

For antique firearms enthusiasts, come and enjoy the collection of Rod Linkous. Jimmy Daze, creator/writer of the local comic book series Hell Paso: The Story of Dallas Stoudenmire will be on hand to discuss how he created his series and sign copies of his book which will be available in the museum gift shop A Step Back in Time.
