Two New Feature Films Begin Filming in Las Cruces, City Becoming Celeb Spotting Hot Spot
Lights! Camera! Action!
Las Cruces has been quite the hotbed of Hollywood film activity over the last few months with several of Tinseltown’s biggest movie stars filming new flicks in and around the city.
Most recently Kate Bosworth and Ryann Phillippe shot scenes for their new action movie, “The Locksmith”.
Before them, Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson had Las Cruces residents sharing photos, video clips, and details of their fleeting interactions with the legendary actors who were in town to film “Knight,” and “Hot Seat”.
Kevin Dillon (Matt’s brother) and Sam Asghari (Britney Spears’ man) who co-starred with Gibson were also seen out and about.
Doña Ana County Quickly Becoming Film Making Hot Spot
Our neighboring city to the west and its surrounding areas were host to four productions this past fall – the three referenced above, and “Chupa”; a Netflix production about the mythical chupacabra that filmed nearby in the historic Mesilla Plaza.
And the movie making boom continues. Two new feature films have begun shooting scenes around Cruces and Doña Ana County. Film Las Cruces says production on the movies will continue through the week of February 21.
More Movies = More Movie Stars?
So, which actors will residents get to see doing their thing this time?
Until the New Mexico Film Office releases an official announcement, the titles of the movies and names of actors involved are not being released, per Film Las Cruces.
What we do know is filming will include fake gunfire, impact traffic, and take over some downtown public parking lots for about two weeks. For a list of areas that will be affected and the dates and times you can expect them to be, visit Film Las Cruces.
