An El Pasoan is one step away from becoming Mexico's "The Voice." Ryan Gozalez is one of 8 finalists on the Mexican version of The Voice, La Voz Mexico.

The 25-year-old battled fellow Team Maluma members for the right to advance, and earned a spot in the finals with an animated performance of How Long by Charlie Puth.

Ryan worked the stage with a pair of backup dancers, even busting out with the Robot for a few seconds.

His surprise dance moves, stage presence, and on point rendition of the current R&B hit song impressed Colombian singer and songwriter Maluma enough to award him a spot in the grand finale.

The winner will be will be chosen this Sunday, Dec. 17, by the viewing public based on the number of votes. La Voz Mexico airs at 8:30 p.m. on Las Estrellas El Paso-Channel 2, or cable Channel 17.
