Kansas Street in Downtown El Paso will be closed to all traffic between Main Drive and Texas Avenue for the next four to six weeks as part of the El Paso Streetcar project.

According to the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority, which is in charge of the project, the closure is necessary to allow crews to begin relocating utilities related to the trolley.

If you use Kansas Street downtown to get to City Hall, the County Courthouse, or the Federal Courthouse consider the following alternate routes:

● Westbound traffic can exit I-10 at Cotton Street and accessing Downtown via Texas Avenue.
● Eastbound traffic can exit I-10 at Downtown and turn right at Santa Fe, Oregon, or Mesa Streets.

Other closures already in place include portions of Father Rahm westbound from Mesa Street to Santa Fe Street, Father Rahm eastbound and westbound traffic from Kansas Street to Mesa Street, South Stanton Street northbound and southbound at Father Rahm Avenue, and North Stanton in front of Cathedral High School northbound and southbound between River Avenue and Arizona Avenue.

Closures will last approximately four to six weeks.
