Among the causes State Representative César Blanco hopes to further during the legislative session is getting El Paso R&B singer Khalid some recognition.

Lord knows that kid has gone largely unnoticed. (Yes, I write that with tongue firmly pressed in cheek.)

Blanco recently filed a Congratulatory & Honorary resolution to “honor and recognize the talented and proud El Pasoan on his early success in the music industry.” Congratulatory & Honorary resolutions do just that, honor and congratulate people, places, and things for accomplishments and deeds big and small. Like a team winning a state championship, or in the case of Khalid, being an award winning world-wide music sensation who proudly reps his adopted hometown every chance he gets.

Calling him “a defining voice for a new generation,” Blanco’s resolution, titled H.R. No. 125, begins with the sentence, “Whereas Khalid Donnel Robinson has earned great distinction for himself and his hometown of El Paso with his extraordinary success as a singer and songwriter.”

It goes on the list his many accolades and accomplishments over the last 2 years, and ends with his wish “that the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Khalid on a successful career…and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future.

Our state rep is a little late to the party, but better late than never. There’s no question Khalid has nothing but love for a city he didn't even move to until his senior year in high school -- which was only a couple of years ago.

There are lots of people who live here -- some even born and raised here -- that don't have two good words to say about El Paso. This guy name drops us every chance he gets. Congrats and mad love to El Paso’s Music Ambassador©
