El Paso-Area School Districts Consider Suspending Classes for Pope’s Visit
Students at all three of El Paso's largest school districts may get the day off from school thanks to next month's papal visit.
Newschannel 9 reports that the El Paso, Ysleta, and Socorro Independent School districts are all considering suspending classes on Wednesday, February 17, when Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Juarez.
According to the TV station, Ysleta school officials will have a decision by the end of the week, while EPISD will discuss the matter at the school board's next meeting. The board of trustees at SISD are "expected to make a decision soon."
