Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City is hosting a virtual Dia de los Niños, Dia de los Libros starting today, Thursday, April 30, on its Facebook page.

Dia de los Niños, Dia de los Libros, is a celebration of kids and books and several City Departments have been having fun online with various activities and programs that families can enjoy from home. The El Paso Public Library, Parks and Recreation, Museums and Cultural Affairs, Animals Services, the El Paso Zoo, and even Mayer Dee Margo have teamed up to present a variety of virtual activities such as storytime for kids, musical performances, cooking demonstrations, tutorials, contests, and more. On this day, the City joined communities across the country to honor and recognize children with a tradition that began in El Paso 24 years ago, largely through the efforts of El Paso children’s author Pat Mora.

As part of the celebration, the El Paso Public Library along with the Parks and Recreation Department partnered up with the Children’s Kingdom to distribute books as part of its meal distribution system.

Families are encouraged to log on and participate from home and enjoy some family time together as the El Paso Public Library brings the celebration home for El Paso residents during Dia de los Niños, Dia de los Libros.
