If your child loves to write poetry, the El Paso Public Library is looking for them. The Library announced their annual Youth Poetry Contest, and it is open to students in grades 1-12.

Students can submit their poems in either English or Spanish. Poems will be judged on originality, creativity, clarity, and spelling. Three winners from each grade level and in each language will be chosen. Finalists will be notified via mail by March.

There will be an awards ceremony in April and finalists will have the opportunity to read their poems before an audience. Each finalists poems will be published in an official poetry contest booklet.

Poems can be submitted through the Library website or at any library branch through January 31. For a complete list of rules and to download the entry form, log onto the El Paso Public library website, elpasolibrary.org.
