What does the leader of the local police force think about the Black Lives Matter group? El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said they are a 'radical hate group' who is directly responsible for the Dallas police massacre.

KFOX 14 asked Allen what he thought about the BLM during a news conference on Friday. After being rude to the reporter, Courtney Schoenemann, he said "Black Lives Matter, as far as I'm concerned, is a radical hate group and for that purpose alone I think the leaders of this country need to look a little bit harder at that group. The consequences of what we saw in Dallas is due to their efforts."

He also was very dismissive in his further responses to her. You can see how he treated her in this video.

It's understandable that the Chief is upset because of what happened in Dallas, and is concerned about his own officers, but his treatment of the reporter was wrong. She is clearly a reporter who is doing her job. What if she had been just a private citizen? Would he have treated her like that in that case?

We appreciate our police force here in El Paso. They do such an amazing job even though they are stretched so thin. They are always understaffed and that is a problem that needs to be solved. But to see the top guy treating people like that on camera is also a problem. His job is to deal with the media, and with the public in general, in a professional manner. The Chief is under a lot of stress, but his rudeness was unwarranted in this situation.

We pray for all our first responders and their families. They put their lives on the line for us every day. Let's treat them with the respect they deserve. But it is a two way street. They also need to treat the public, all members of the public, with respect, as well.
