One of the most fun events that happens every year is Chalk the Block. It's the ultimate family event where you get great food trucks, great live music, and kids get to literally chalk up every inch of sidewalk they see. Sidewalk artists do amazing chalk art during the event and watching them create their masterpieces is fascinating.

The El Paso Museum of Art holds a lot of Chalk the Block events and this Friday, your kids can get in on the fun with the Make Your Own Stencil event.

Your kiddos can go to the museum's Art School from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for a free arts activity, get inspired by works on view, and create their own stencil to use throughout the Chalk the Block weekend. EPMA Teaching Artist, Amy Briones will be on hand for activities designed for beasties ages four and up. There will be a DJ to accompany the evening festivities from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the museum. You can tour the refreshed museum galleries and relax or play in the Lory and Jonny Rogers Orientation Station.

The museum has extended their hours during Chalk the Block weekend. They'll be open from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. On Sunday, October 13, the museum will be open from noon - 5 p.m.

Chalk the Block is three solid days of events, music, and must see art throughout downtown. It is El Paso’s largest arts festival with tons of things to do and see all weekend long. You can check out their website for a full schedule of things to do by clicking here.
