There is nothing I can think of more terrifying than one of my kids contracting a disease. We do all we can to make sure our kids are healthy but sometimes things come out of nowhere and the next thing you know, you're hearing the words "Your child has leukemia" coming at you.

One El Paso mom heard those words last year and has been fighting with her darling girl ever since. Claudia Lerma says that her 3-year-old daughter Aiyanna started feeling badly and after two visits to the ER the doctors gave them the diagnosis of leukemia. Claudia says that while she was in the hospital, Aiyanna got cards and they helped lift her spirits. With Valentine's Day around the corner, Claudia is reaching out to the community to ask for Valentine's Day cards for sweet Aiyanna.

Claudia says that the thing that has bothered Aiyanna the most about going through her chemo treatments is the loss of her hair, bless her heart. Claudia is asking that the El Paso community send Aiyanna a Valentine’s Day card, candy, or balloons to help put a smile on her face.

If you would like to help Aiyanna smile this Valentine's Day, you can find Claudia's address in her Facebook post. Just a nice card with a sweet note would probably make Aiyanna's day go a little easier, but if you think you can swing getting her a small gift, that would also be much appreciated.

With so much change that has been brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, doing something so little for this sweet angel would probably make you smile, too. We here at KISS FM are praying for Aiyanna and her family through this difficult time.
