El Paso Experience The 1922 Film ‘Nosferatu’ Backed By Live Music
Experience the classic film Nosferatu backed by a live band, on Friday, September 30, at Alamo Drafthouse.
The Austin-based band Invincible Czars returns to the Sun City to perform a live score while screening the classic silent film Nosferatu.
F. W. Murnau's expressionist horror film, 'Nosferatu premiered in 1922 based on an unauthorized and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula, and a century later, the cult classic remains a fan favorite.
As September ends and October ushers in the Halloween season, Alamo Drafthouse will kick things off with the long-awaited return of an annual tradition with Invincible Czars performing the score to Nosferatu live.
Since 2006, the Austin-based band has been performing in synch critically acclaimed original silent film scores for films such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Lon Chaney's The Phantom of The Opera, John Barrymore's Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, and so many others including Nosferatu.
And now, The Invincible Czars are back with an updated soundtrack in anticipation of releasing a recording for the film's centennial this year.
Their performance in El Paso will include the updated score incorporating violin, organ, flute, bass clarinet, drums, percussion, vocals, music box, synthesizers, electric guitar, piano, and many sound effects performed live and in theatre by only five performers.
Influenced by classical music, Invincible Czars' score will incorporate original music inspired by Bela Bartok's Roumanian Folk Dances as an homage to the fictional character Count Orlock's hometown.
Don't miss this unique annual tradition for one night only at Alamo Drafthouse Montecillo in El Paso.
