So your name and address was on the Warrants List published in the Sunday paper (7/22), now what?

Well, if you want to avoid the possibility of being arrested during the upcoming warrant roundup you're going to want to pay up sooner than later.

In an effort get people to clear their court-issued warrants, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is making this offer: turn yourself in and pay your warrant and you won't have to risk being arrest at your home or work place.

County Sheriff's and other law enforcement will begin conducting a roundup sometime in August and anyone on the list who hasn’t had their warrant recalled risks ending up in handcuffs in the back of a police car.

The Sheriff's Office and the El Paso County District Attorney's Office suggests those with a misdemeanor warrant take care of it at the Satellite Booking Office located on the first floor of the El Paso County Courthouse. Going that route allows people with warrants to be processed through the system and post bond without having to see the inside of the county jail.

It's important to note this is not one of those ticket amnesty things; court fees are not being waived.

Defendants must make arrangements with a bail bondsman or pay a cash bond at the El Paso County Jail before going to the Satellite Booking Office.

People with warrants for traffic tickets, out-of-county warrants, parole violations, wanted person or Pink Warrants will still need to surrender at the El Paso County Jail.
