El Paso Sad City for Love, Ranks Near Bottom of ‘2018’s Best Places for Valentine’s Day’
WalletHub recently ranked El Paso as the cheapest place to say 'I do', but when it comes to the romance part of the relationship equation we didn't fare as well, placing near the bottom of the 2018's Best Places for Valentine's Day rankings.
The list-happy financial site determined "the most romantic and cost-effective cities for celebrating Valentine’s Day" by taking into account 23 key metrics including restaurant-meal costs, the number of jewelry stores, florists and chocolate shops per capita, and options for Valentine’s Day activities.
Out of the 100 biggest cities in America El Paso is the 79th best place to celebrate The Holy Day of Obligation™.
Based on their voodoo science, points were taken off for the lack of "gift accessibility," which includes the number of florists and chocolate shops, and the number of Valentine's Day "activities" El Pasoans have to choose from. Clearly this was calculated before it was announced lovers could spend the most romantic night of the year watching a free Adam Sandler movie at Ascarate Park.
The only category we scored well in was "budget ranking," meaning El Pasoans won’t have to blow through a wad of cash to buy their boo the biggest stuffed-teddy-bear-holding-a-heart the guy in the white van parked off on the side of the road is selling.
