El Paso Artist Invites Community To “Leave Your Mark” Event at MOON MONKE Gallery

March is the beginning of International Women’s Month and one local artist is inviting people to come together in creativity and to give back to a local non-profit organization in our community.

Jacquelyn Luevano is a local upcycled fashion designer and artist and she is also the owner of Moon Monke, a local art space and gallery that gives people a place to get creative through art.

“Our mission at MOON MONKE is to give back to our El Paso and neighboring communities through our creative workshops and events,” said Jacquelyn.

Throughout the year Moon Monke will have a variety of events that will allow people to come together through fun and creative activities that include art and more.

“Leave Your Mark” will be Moon Monke’s first event of the year and it will take place the weekend of March 4th & 5th. Guests are invited to join the fun at the studio for painting, mingling and most importantly, giving.

“The main focus is to gather the community for fun activities and to raise money for specific local non-profits,” said Jacqueline. “In honor of March’s International Women’s Day I saw “Mija, Yes you can” as the perfect match for our first donation.”

Moon Monke will donate 50% of ticket sales to “Mija, Yes you can” a local non-profit organization that aims at providing resources, workshops and more to women in our community.

People who want to join the event are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to ensure they get the time slot that works best for them.

Each ticket includes one blank space on the studio’s outdoor wall which will allow for guests to create their own unique artwork.

“We will provide 100% organic paint with various brushes and tools for guests to use,” said Jacqueline. “These paints are non-toxic, biodegradable.”

Guests will have 90 minutes available in their painting session to allow for enough time for event organizers to prepare for the next guests' arrival.
