E.T. phone home.

The possibly sweetest childhood movie ever made is making its way back to theaters this month. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial will be in nationwide re-release on September 17 and 20, and if you've never seen it on the big screen, you need to get your tickets now and watch the Steven Spielberg classic the way it was intended to be seen.

Everyone knows the story of E.T. The so-ugly-he's-cute alien lands in a suburban neighborhood and is discovered by Elliot, a kid who is way smarter than any of us were at his age. He doesn't get freaked out by E.T., he hides him from his mom, he teaches E.T. how to speak, and he helps him build an intergalactic homing device that enables the other aliens to find E.T. and take him home.

There are some parts of the movie that are a little distressing for the little kids, although beasties these days are pretty savvy and tough to scare. The scene where the government guys show up and take over the house, the scene where E.T. dies and Elliot screams - yikes, I'm a grown woman and I usually scream right along with him.

This movie is amazing no matter where you watch it, but seeing it in the theater is really amazing. Click on the link to find the dates, times, and theaters where you can catch E.T. in El Paso theaters.
