Earlier this year St. Patrick's Cathedral on the west side was targeted by an arsonist. It was one of three churches in town that was hit by someone who threw what law enforcement is calling "incendiary devices" at the houses of worship. Thankfully no one was injured in the incidents, but one of the windows at St. Patrick's was broken when the Molotov cocktail hit it before bouncing off, landing on the sidewalk and catching fire. St. Jude's Catholic church did sustain some fire damage.

The FBI has now stepped in and announced that it has raised its reward from $5,000 to $15,000 to try and find the person who targeted St. Patrick's Cathedral, St. Matthew Catholic Church, and St. Jude Catholic in May and June.

It's not known why these churches were targeted but whatever the reason and whatever your feelings about the Catholic Church, we don't need people running around throwing Molotov cocktails at buildings. This town is made up of a lot of historic buildings that could easily be damaged by idiots like the person or people who did this. They need to be found and brought to justice.

If you know anything about the attacks on these churches, please call the FBI's El Paso Field Office at (915) 832-5000, or call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-TIPS (8477). You can also report a tip anonymously online at tips.fbi.gov or at crimestoppersofelpaso.org.
