The Chico’s Tacos location on Montana has been a part of the Chelsea area of Central El Paso for over 40 years, but it appears it won't make it to 50.

Plans are in the works to tear it down and build El Paso's sixth CVS Pharmacy there. This is what The El Paso Times is reporting:

"The Chico's Tacos and a former veterinary clinic would be demolished to make way for the drugstore, according to city documents...A request to rezone the property to allow construction of the store is on the agenda for the City Plan Commission's monthly meeting Thursday."

The article goes on to state that residents of the nearby neighborhood and the neighborhood association do not have a problem with the drugstore chain building a nearly 12,000 square-foot store with a drive-through pharmacy at that location, and that the city planning division will recommend the rezoning be approved if certain conditions are met.

One of those conditions calls for the site plan to include "ample landscaping to act as a buffer between the CVS store and the nearby residential street."

Three years ago Walmart’s request to rezone the same site so the company could build a Neighborhood Market was declined, in large part because of opposition from residents.
