Well, I’m a day late to the celebration but hey, better late than never!

August 29th was declared “Chico's Tacos Day” by El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser along with El Paso City Council.

“Chicos Taco's is an El Paso tradition and for 70 years the Mora family and their employees have provided delicious meals, hospitality, and a gathering place for countless El Pasoans and visitors to this city,” read a post shared to El Paso City Council’s official Facebook page.

Chico's Tacos recently celebrated their 70th birthday in true El Paso style with cake and mariachi’s at certain Chico’s Tacos locations.

The locally owned restaurant was founded on July 4,1953 by lifelong El Pasoan, the late Joe B. Mora.  The El Paso favorite is now run by Mora’s sons Richard, Bernie, William and their grandson Brian.

Chico's is famously known for its signature rolled tacos in tomato sauce.

Personally, my favorite part about Chico’s Tacos is dipping those crinkly fries in the leftover sauce from the tacos!

I’m also a sucker for their take on hamburgers and hotdogs.

After the news was announced many locals shared their photos of Chico's Tacos to celebrate the special day.

So, if you’re late to the party like I was, don’t worry. You can still celebrate “Chico's Tacos Day” by enjoying some rolled tacos for lunch or dinner!
