Clint ISD’s Annual Senior Walk is a Celebration of Past, Present, and Future

So, according to a study from the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, sometimes taking a walk down memory lane can be good for your psychological well-being.

“Their results found authenticity, induced with nostalgia, resulted in statistically significant increases in all measured components of psychological well-being (social relationships, vitality, competence, meaning of life, optimism, and subjective well-being),” read a portion of the study results online.

So what does that mean exactly? Well, when you’re able to go back to a place that helped you grow as a person and realize how accomplished you’ve become, you feel great and it brings a sense of accomplishment which in turn becomes a positive memory.

That’s exactly how a few high school senior students from Clint ISD must have felt when they walked down the halls of their former elementary and middle schools in their high school graduation caps and gowns.

It was all part of Clint ISD’s annual Senior walk tradition which happens every school year during May.

“This is an awesome event because it inspires the younger generation to keep doing great in school, so that one day they too, can become seniors and graduate,” said Clint ISD officials.

High school seniors proudly walked down elementary and middle school’s that included Red Sands Elementary, Montana Vista Elementary, East Montana Middle School, Frank Macias Elementary, Carroll T. Welch Elementary, Desert Hills Elementary, Ricardo Estrada Middle School, and Horizon Middle School. 

Dressed in their graduation gown and cap, Seniors were greeted by elementary and middle school students who sat and waited for them to pass so they could clap for them, shake their hands, and show off handmade posters which had words of encouragement written on them.

Annual traditions like this always melt my heart, and I really wish this was something that I could have done back when I was in high school.

Not only is this a way to motivate younger students, it’s also a way to remind these high school seniors of how far they’ve come and it helps them realize that all the hard work they put in at school has paid off!

Congrats to the class of 2023! Ya’ll did it!
