The City of El Paso has set the date for one of our city's most celebrated holiday traditions – the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony and parade.

The Celebration of Lights will officially usher in the Christmas season beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, per a post on the El Paso Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Downtown El Paso will again play host to a full day of holiday entertainment that will begin with a Holiday Market at noon and culminate with the spectacular nighttime parade featuring numerous floats and walking groups all tricked out in colorful lights.

The Christmas tree lighting festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. in San Jacinto Plaza. Dee Margo will flip the switch on the hundreds of thousands of lights that will set the park aglow for his first time as mayor at 5:30 p.m.

A fireworks display, and the annual light parade will follow immediately after.
