If you are a pet owner, you know that the Fourth of July's rockets red glare can be terribly frightening for animals. There are always stories about how to keep your pets calm during the fireworks season, but sometimes the worst happens and they run away from home. If that happened to you over the long Independence Day weekend, you should look for your pup or kitty at the City of El Paso Animal Services Shelter.

They reported a number of pets being taken to the shelter in the past couple of days. It's the best place to begin your search. You should also make sure that your pets are microchipped so they can be easily identified and returned to you. The shelter can help you with microchipping information.

If your pet isn't there, check out Lost and Found Pets in El Paso's Facebook page.
