Blue Oyster Cult to Headline Las Cruces July 4 Concert

There’s a good chance the clank, clank, clank of cowbells will precede the sounds of bombs bursting in air at this year’s Las Cruces Independence Day concert.

That's because Blue Öyster Cult is headlining the city’s 2017 Fourth of July Celebration at the Field of Dreams. The band’s most successful song, “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” featured the instrument which was immortalized in the now classic “More Cowbell” sketch on Saturday Night Live during the show's Will Ferrell era.

The celebration will get underway at 4 p.m. on July 4 with BÖC scheduled to perform at 8:30 p.m. A Presentation of Colors and huge fireworks display will follow the concert, according to a city press release.

Sounds like a fun day in LC, but I'll be honest, it could use more cowbell.
