Check Out El Paso Area Mountains With Hikes and Tours
Living in El Paso and Las Cruces, mountains are a part of our everyday life, but how often do you really get on the mountains in the area? Hiking and biking the area mountains are usually something most of us do when we have people in from out of town.
If you want to do some more in and around our mountains, check out the three month long Celebration Of Our Mountains. The local group has put together hikes and bike rides from beginner to expert, tours, talks and field trips that will take you to the Guadalupe Mountains and Hueco Tanks, Leasburg Dam State Park and Silver City, New Mexico.
There is a beginners hike happening September 19, at 8:00 a.m., in the arroyos and on ridges near the Franklin Mountains State Park. On September 23, there will be a hike on the upper and lower sunset trails that will take you by the Rio Grande and other sites. The hike is dog friendly if your dog has been trained and socialized. Also on September 23, you can join the Alamogordo Amateur Astronomy Club for their Night Sky Program at Aguirre Springs. It's a little bit of travel time from El Paso and Las Cruces, but you can be there in under two hours.
Check out the full list of events at the group's website.
