With so many kids staying home for the coming weeks, and possibly longer, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, online learning is the new norm. If you are trying to figure out where to put your beasties so they have their own space to learn but are having a hard time dividing the kitchen table into enough parts for everyone who needs it, this might be your solution. The El Paso Independent School District is going to be getting rid of some surplus student desks and you can get them for a ridiculously low price.

The desks are no longer needed by EPISD, so they will be on sale for $3 each to families and the general public. You can only buy five desks per household, but my gosh, what a steal. The district is not allowed to just give the desks away because of state laws on gift of public funds, but they are practically giving them away at 3 bucks a desk.

The desk sale is going to be Saturday, August 29 beginning at 7 a.m., at the former Alta Vista school site located at 1000 N. Grama Street. When all the desks are gone the sale will be over.

If you go, EPISD officials say you will have to observe strict health guidelines. All participants will have to practice social distancing and wear face masks. This is such a great way to give your kids their own space and also put them in the learning frame of mind because they are actually in a desk they would be at home.

There are about 400 desks available so you might want to get there early to get one.
