“The unusual circumstances occurring throughout 2020 and extending into 2021 have impacted our business to the point where the decision had to be made to close.” said Bricktown President Buck Warfield via post on Facebook.

Although not signaled out specifically as the culprit, the “unusual circumstances” referenced is most likely the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions and limitations businesses have had to follow to contain the spread of the virus has taken its toll on many businesses over the last year.

Bricktown set up shop next door to Grimaldi's almost five years ago in August of 2016. Although their logo read "local beer, great food," it's actually a chain based out of Oklahoma City with 16 locations in five states (Well, 15 now).

Known for its in-house brewed beers and a broad menu of burgers, pizza and comfort foods like fried chicken, meatloaf and chicken fried steak, news of it permanent closing bummed out many El Pasoans who shared their disappointment on the restaurant’s post.

“We have been proud to do business in El Paso and appreciate the support we have received from the community and from our guests,” Warfield’s statement to its customers concluded. “We will be open each day from 3PM-10PM through Friday, February 26 and hope to have the opportunity to see and serve many of you one more time before our closure.”
