Texas drivers aren’t always the best drivers, but when you compare us to other cities, it’s safe to say we are not HALF as bad as other cities when it comes to driving!

Let’s face it: Americans are all about their cars

According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, a whopping 87% of daily trips happen in personal vehicles. And while that means a cozy, private commute, it also translates into a major time and money drain. Think about it — the average driver spends nearly 370 hours per year behind the wheel. That's over 15 whole days just sitting in traffic! *Gasps in Spanish*

Some cities are way easier on drivers’ wallets (and nerves) than others.

To figure out which cities are best for hitting the open road, WalletHub compared the 100 biggest U.S. cities across 30 key factors — from average gas prices to hours wasted in traffic to the likelihood of fender benders.

According to WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo, car costs aren’t the only thing to consider when rating cities.

“The best cities for drivers also minimize commute times and traffic congestion, have accident rates well below the national average, and keep their roads in good condition.”

Raleigh, NC, took the top spot, with smooth traffic and reasonable gas prices making it a commuter's dream. Cities like Boise, ID, and Corpus Christi, TX, also ranked high. And for those in Texas, El Paso landed at #22 — a solid spot for keeping costs and road stress down!
