This is an artist rendering of what I-10 around Airway Boulevard will look like once a $7 million beautification project now underway is completed around September-October of this year.

The project will include light sculptures, median artwork and wind turbines, which according to a spokesman with the Camino Real Regional Mobility Authority, will generate power with which it can power its own lights, or put back into the grid to help power El Paso.

New landscaping, lighting improvements, and pedestrian amenities will be added as well. After Airway gets its facelift, they'll work on beautifying all the I-10 interchanges from Hawkins to Executive Center. It's estimated it could take as long as 15 years to complete.
