Calling All School Bands – Learn How You Can Perform in the Next Sun Bowl
If you are in a high school band, listen up – your band could have a starring role in the Hyundai Sun Bowl halftime game!
The Sun Bowl turns 80 this year, and to honor the first game, which was played between high school teams - the El Paso All-Stars versus Ranger High School – game officials say they want an El Paso area high school marching band to be part of the halftime festivities!
So how do you get your team on the field on December 31st?
High School Bands will have to:
•Submit a parade application by no later than next Wednesday, November 13th.
•Participate in the First Light Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28th.
•Submit a DVD of a five- to six-minute halftime performance with your parade application.
•Your band must march in full uniform attire.
•Your band will be judged on the following criteria: presentation, marching, quality of sound and your DVD entry.
If your band wins, the band that performs at the Sun Bowl halftime must be the same band that enters the parade and is seen on the DVD. Each band member and director of the winning band will have a reserved seat at the football game. Friends and family will have to buy a ticket.
Now, get busy!
