16 Ysleta Independent School District schools will be offering free pre-kindergarten programs this coming school year. The program is open to all families in El Paso, whether they live in the district or not.

RFK, Parkland, and Ysleta Pre-K centers; and Cedar Grove, Constance Hulbert, East Point, Eastwood Heights, Edgemere, Glen Cove, Loma Terrace, Pasodale, Ramona, Sageland, Scotsdale, Tierra Del Sol, and Pebble Hills elementary schools will all have the program.

YISD says the program will "help develop children's social, emotional, self-help, and cognitive skills while providing hands-on activities and immersing them in a literature-rich environment."

If you would like to enroll your child in the YISD pre-K program, you need to register them between Aug. 10-21 by picking up and filling out a registration packet from whichever school or Pre-K center you wish to enroll them. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so the earlier you register, the better your chances at getting the school you want.

Your child has to be with you when you register, and you'll need their Social Security card, immunization record, and birth certificate. You'll need your photo I.D. and the current month's gas, water, or electric utility bill, as well as a home contract or lease.

Parents will be notified beginning Friday, Sept. 4th if their child has been accepted into the Pre-K program. The first day of school for Pre-K students is Monday, Sept. 14th.
