After The Great Facebook Shutdown Should We Print Photos Again?
The whole world stopped yesterday and people were running through the streets waving their hands in the air like the Wienerschnitzel hot dog because social media mega-giant Facebook went down. People were getting error messages when they tried to log on and then things got even worse. Instagram and WhatApp also went down leaving people across the world unable to share their selfies, cat videos, and snaps of their breakfast avocado toast. It was like Armageddon out there.
TAUGHT ME A LESSON
The one thing I learned about yesterday's Facebook/Instagram/WhatsApp outage was that I rely way too heavily on social media to maintain my really important photos and videos. I know I'm not the only one who takes precious family photos and posts them to my social media pages without ever giving a thought to what might happen if something catastrophic occurred and they all got wiped out. For a while there yesterday, I was terrified that some really important photos and videos would be lost forever. I can't print out videos, but there is one thing I can do.
WALGREENS HERE I COME
My family has a text thread and I suggested to everyone that instead of trying to figure out something to buy our folks for Christmas - they really are the hardest people to shop for - we should all go through our photo libraries and print, yes, print our photos out and put them in a photo album (Google it, kids.) My mom absolutely hates looking at photos on phones. She doesn't even carry one, so being able to give her a photo album is something I know she'll love.
EASY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING
This year, retailers are telling us that we need to shop early because of supply chain problems. Making a photo album is super easy and it's something you can do during your spare time. Just go through your photos, send them off to whatever place you want to in order to get them printed, and then put them in an album. Christmas is done, your precious family photos are safe, and you can go back to just posting photos of your pho in Insta and Facebook.
