La Union Maze Ends Season with Fireworks, Annual Doggy Day and Pumpkin Smash
For many families, the fall season isn’t complete without a visit to a corn maze, and if you’ve been meaning to get lost in one but just haven't gotten around to it, do it this weekend or you’ll have to wait until 2022.
La Union Maze in La Union, New Mexico is the only area maze and pumpkin patch still open, but it will be a wrap on the corn stalks and seasonal photo ops after this Sunday.
This Friday through Sunday, November 5-7, is the last weekend to get an earful of corny fall fun and adventure. And oh what fun it will be.
La Union Maze will close out the season with numerous special end-of-the-season festivities planned, including fireworks nightly, and Bring Your Dog to the Maze Day.
Fireworks displays will color the desert sky each evening Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 30 minutes after dusk, which this time of the year is approximately 7 p.m. Feel free to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
Saturday and Sunday the farm will hold its annual Pumpkin Smash at 1:30, 3 and 4:30 p.m. I’m told they take their biggest gourds, fill them with water, lift them up high with a crane, then drop them to the ground where they smash ‘em before they trash ‘em.
Bring Your Dog to the Maze Day
Sunday, Nov. 7, explore the twisting turning pathways of the corn maze with your well-behaved four-legged furry friend. All they ask is that your canine companion be on a leash at all times, and that you clean up after him or her. Doggy day at the maze is from 12 noon to dusk.
What to Know if You Plan to Go
La Union Maze offers 2 mazes; the regular corn maze and a flower maze. Other attractions and activities include tractor-pulled wagon rides to the Pumpkin Patch, a Cow Train, a farm animal corral, zip line, and picnic tables and concessions.
