Great Moments in Broadcasting: Newscaster Blasts Viewer for Calling Her Fat

La Crosse, Wisconsin news anchor/reporter Jennifer Livingston’s response to a viewer’s fat comment has gone viral and thrust Livingston into the national spotlight. The viewer wrote in to the station and put Livingston on blast for not being "a suitable example for this community's young people, girls in particular," by appearing on television despite being “obese.”

"Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain," she quotes him as writing. "I leave you this note hoping that you'll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality to present and promote a healthy lifestyle."

Livingston responded by calling him a bully. But was it?
